DESCRIPTION:

The unit is a PORTABLE FIELD OPERATION LIGHT also suitable for use as a floor stand model as well as having wall or ceiling mounting capabilities.  Design of reflector mounting permits ready adjustment both vertically and horizontally and provides stability in all configurations.  The unit is operated from 110C AC power source or 24V DC vehicular batteries.

The reflector, support members with stiffening cables, electrical power cables, base bracket and 24V DC rectifier pack are stored an shipped in a Size No. 3 Medical Instrument and Supply Set Chest, Modified NSN  6545-00-914-3480.  In addition, the Chest, ballasted with sand or other suitable weight, serves as the base for the lamp when erected.

The Surgical Field Light consists of the following:

1.  Standard #3 Medical Field Chest, Modified.

2.  Vertical and Horizontal support members.

3.  Reflector Assembly.

4.  Power Pack

5.  Spare Parts

The total weight of the Light including the chest is approximately 68 pounds.

The support members consists of a base bracket, a vertical support, horizontal support, four vertical and one horizontal stiffening cable.

The reflector assembly consists of a heat cylinder, reflector, reflector arm, housing bracket and a three-conductor, 18 gauge power cable complete with "on-off" switch.

The power pack is furnished with two power cables; one for connection to the AC power supply, the other for connection to a 24V battery.

The reflector provides the following beam characteristics:

1.  Color approximately 4000 K with trichromate coefficients of X=.30 to .40 and Y=.30 to .41.

2.  Minimum light output of 1800 foot candles, 38 inches from the face of the reflector rim.

3.  Depth of field from 24 to 42 inches.

4.  The heat cylinder absorbs approximately 90 percent of the infrared light.

5.  Horizontal and vertical support members are constructed of telescoping aluminum tubing sections which are made rigid and stable by means of bracing by tension cables.  Maximum horizontal extension of lamp is 5' 6".  The Maximum vertical height is 6' 7" with reflector arm in horizontal position.  The base bracket is fastened by clamps to top of the closed chest when lamp is in operating position.  The 24V DC rectifier pack is attached to the vertical support member above the 5 foot level of explosive pases.  The power cord from the lamp is connected to the rectifier pack and the pack is then connected to the 110V AC outlet by means of a standard grounded type plug and three wire cable.
