Description

It is said that hemp cloth or cotton cloth was reinforced with cotton thread for heat retention and reinforcement. It is standard to sew white thread on indigo cotton cloth, but recently, colorful cloth and thread are also available. Famous sashiko techniques include Tsugaru's "Kogin-zashi", Nanbu's "Hishi-zashi", and Shonai's "Shonai-sashiko", and these are called Japan's three major sashiko.
