ca1900 HAND PAINTED SODA DELIVERYMAN / SODA SALESMAN OCCUPATIONAL SHAVING MUG Rare Original Shaving Mug with Horse Drawn Soda Wagon

    The decoration on the Mug is a wonderful, near broadside view of a horse drawn Soda Delivery Wagon with text on the side that reads “Soda”. The Driver is VERY well dressed (perhaps he is a Salesman as much as a Delivery Wagon Driver) and the Wagon is moving down a city street with multi-story brick buildings in the background.

    This outstanding, turn of the 20th century Shaving Mug measures approx. 3 1/2" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter at the top and the base. It is made of a high quality, porcelain china material. The Mug has a brilliant white ground surface with bright and vibrant color decoration and gold gilt highlights which includes the name of the original owner "V. Hirbow". The bottom of the Mug carries the mark of the manufacturer – P H Leonard of Vienna, Austria.

    This very rare and very attractive, turn-of-the-century Soda Salesman / Soda Delivery Wagon Driver Occupational Shaving Mug is in very good condition. The colors are bright and vibrant and the decoration well preserved and very attractive. There is some wear to the gold gilt border at the foot and the rim of the Mug and to the lettering of the original owner's name but otherwise the decoration is very well preserved. The ground porcelain is a brilliant white and there is no staining or discoloration. There is a single, small chip on the rim of the Mug above the handle but there are no other chips, cracks, physical damage or repairs of any kind.
