This is a 1936 combined edition. This is a SCARCE heavy volume with 2 volumes bound together, 225 pages ea., 450pp. Photographs, illustrations from prints + 2 maps. Beautiful, heavy, cream stock pages. BOOK HISTORY. The 2 original volumes were published in softcover wraps in 1920 & 1921 by the State Street Trust Co. in Boston and are hard to find in good condition. This commemorative edition has a very finely detailed, ornate, blind stamp on the front cover that is hard to catch in a photograph to present here. The stamping includes the book title and "Mayflower 1620". Measures approximately 10.5 x 7.5 x 1.5. Part I contains 225 pages of text illustrated with 179 photographs or etchings. Part II also contains 225 pages with 146 photographs or etchings. Photos full page & in text. Weighs almost 4 lbs because of the high quality paper that was used. My scans don't do the pages justice. FINE CONDITION hardcover in a NEAR FINE dust jacket with a scarce VERY GOOD CONDITION slipcase. See the photos above and below. The slipcase is in good condition with light soil and other minor wear. The price-clipped dust jacket is in near fine condition in a protective mylar cover with only minor edge wear. The hardcover is in as new, near fine condition with almost imperceptible wear. Maybe just a little spine roll at the bottom of the spine from shelf sitting. The blind stamp on the front cover is in very good, sharp condition. The blind stamp is a little crooked. Not sure if this is typical for these collectible editions. The covers have no rubbing wear. Strong hinges and gutters. Pointy, strong corners and no bumping. The gilt on spine is somewhat dulled. The red top edge of the pages looks fine with no dust. Other fore edges are clean, too. Clean as new in and out. No marks of any kind. The paste downs and opposing free end pages are tanned where they were glued, as is common with this edition. There is no foxing or any other sign of moisture exposure. Smells like a book. The text pages are all in fine condition with little to no yellowing. See additional photos below, not hosted by Ebay. DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS. This is the romantic story of the early settlement of the New England towns beginning with the arrival of the Mayflower passengers from Plymouth, England, to found a community of the same name on this continent. The connecting links between the cities and towns of New England and those of similar name in Great Britain and their close relationship is traced in detail. New light based on information uncovered from old documents is thrown on the early history of these towns as well as on the experiences and adventures of the early settlers. Of more than common interest are the many illustrations gathered from town archives and old family collections, some of which are here published for the first time. This book is not only of great historical value, but also forms and instructive guide to shrines and memorable places of the territory under consideration. It is chock full of genealogy information, as well. Contents PART II BRAINTREE MA Capt. WOLLASTON, Quincy Chapter of DAR, Thomas MORTON, James OLMSTEDD, J.
