St. Nicholas is depicted frontally half-figured wearing bishop’s clothes, blessing with his right hand and holding closed Gospels with his left one. Jesus Christ offering the Gospels and the Virgin Mary offering a bishop’s omofor, both in Heavens are shown behind him. The technique and style of painting are typical of icons originating from an Old Believer’s Workshop in the South Western Russia. The icon is painted on a premium cedar wood panel which is resistant to wood eating organisms and warping.
