This is a lot of 4 vintage maps and all vary in their respective quality-but overall very good collection. See pictures for details, thank you.  Each Map Measures approximately:  24 1/2" x 16 1/4" surface area Europe "Here is a highly decorate colored map of Europe from G. Blaeu's Grooten Atlas (1648-65), published in Amsterdam. The elaborate borders show vignette plans of the principal cities and couples depicting the colorful costumes of the period. Interesting features are the many figures, ships and animals on the body of the map. The map has been drawn with the greatest care and precision is among the most desirable maps produced by this famous Dutch cartographer." Africa "Like the map of Europe, Africa is from G. Blaeu's Grooten Atlas (1648-65) Again we have miniature city plans at the top of the map with figures in bright native garb displayed at the sides. Sailing vessels and marine life abound in the waters surrounding the continent. This highly detailed and attractive map, full of antique charm, is not only colorful but also historically important." North and South America "This brilliantly colored map by Johannes Baptista Homann was published in Nuremberg about 1732. Note the pictorial cartouche, showing a multitude of Indians advancing over a plain, while white men are awaiting them with gifts. In the background are a settlement of houses, windmills dotted over the plain and beyond, and mountains looming in the distance. An historical sketch of America is enclosed in the second cartouche in which a missionary priest is preaching to some Indians; opposite is a heathen god with two Indian worshipers. On this map California is shown as part of the mainland. Above is the "Terra Esonis Incognita"  World  "This 1651 double-hemispheric world map by John Speed was published in London and is considered the finest English world map of the period. Splendid engravings of the northern and southern hemisphere, allegorical figures representing water, earth, fire and air, illustrations of the solar system, an armillary sphere, an eclipse of the sun and the moon enhance the map. Descriptions of John Davis's voyage to discover a northwest passage in 1580, and the passage through the Strait of Magellan by Drake in 1578 and Cavendish in 1586, are also to be found."
