$15.00 2 Bids Sold, $3.50 Shipping

Seller: magpie2518 (1,104) 100%, Location: Knoxville, Tennessee, Ships to: US, Item: 263320994271 This spike was found on Myrtle Beach while metal detecting a few months after Hurricane Hugo. That hurricane was huge, at least 6 feet or more was washed back out to sea so what beach was left was from a long time ago. The spike or nail was only bout 6" deep in the sand and has some great patina to it. It's about 5-6" long and maybe 1/2" at top, the color showing is brass colored or bronze, its fairly heavy. I did a little research and I think this was from the shipwreck of the City of Richmond on August 30, 1881, it was a 5 deck passenger ship being towed to the Bahamas to become a gambling casino. The web site I found this info on shipwreck registry web site, eBay won't let me enter a link to it.The hurricane or one before it must have washed it ashore over the years for it to have been so deep before the hurricane. Anyway its a great item to add to a maritime collection. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! Condition: Old brass? nail from ship wreck. Great patina, beautiful collector piece., Primary Material: Brass, Country/Region of Origin: Unknown, Time Period, War: Possibly 1881
