There is a "Patent Applied For" stamp on the front of one of the arms. This unique piece is very large and heavily cast and has a unique swivel feature that allows the small soap dish at the bottom to slide from side to side. Perfect for that double-ended slipper tub you are dreaming of! This very large piece will also easily accommodate one or two bath sponges in the upper basket. The overall condition is excellent for a piece this age. There is no wear to the nickel plating except on bottom screw.S. Sternau & Co. of Brooklyn, New York, was a maker of chafing dishes, coffee percolators and other household items such as these bathroom accessories since 1893. It had previously applied the name to its "Sterno-Inferno" alcohol burner. In 1918, it promoted its Sterno Stove as being a perfect gift for a soldier going overseas.
