A rare set of five toadstool mushrooms for garden decoration with garden gnomes. Made in Germany ca. 1950s probably by Heissner. They are made of terracotta and hand-painted. Used vintage condition with signs of use in keeping with age. Some chips to paint, rubbed areas and partly repainted. Please see pictures. Traditionally, the garden figures represented male gnomes wearing red pointed caps and carrying garden tools, typically between one and two feet tall and used in Europe as decoration for bourgeois gardens. artfour is an owner-managed trading company that sells Black Forest wood carvings, antler furniture and an impressive variety of unique decorative items.
