These unique, elegant pair of late 19th century chairs were handcrafted by Hollandia Pander and Zonen ( Hollandia Pander & Son) . M ade of wood and designed with extraordinary care.  They are marked under each chair.  Made in the Netherlands by H.Pander & Zonen, a furniture company whose name translates to H. Pander & Son.  Selling them for only $250 a chair plus shipping Louis XVI style:
  • Characterized by elegance with  oval/shield-like shaped chair backs.
  • Unique carving motif on chair back.
  • Chair legs are straight, resembling columns and painted black.
  • Decorative carvings have a classical theme.
These beautiful carved solid chairs are made of wood, looks like Mahogany. I upholstered them in velvet, leaving the original fabric under each chair along with the original upholster under fabric and I believe is stuffed with Horsehair. Some of the gold trim worn. One chair has a small flower carving missing on one front leg (shown in photos), I see no other problem. Very well padded backs and seats can be used as side chairs, dining chairs or table chairs. History: I n 1924 H. Pander & Son bought an aircraft manufacturing company and started making small airplanes. Over the next decade, Pander became better known for making airplanes, but appears to have continued to make furniture through the mid 1930s.
