Seller: muddy-feet (2,617) 100%, Location: West Malling, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 113294828922 Early Upper Palaeolithic Lincombian-Ranisian-Jerzmanowician (L-R-J) These three Neanderthal made spear armature leaf-points display good working detail and are in a very collectable condition. The L-R-J is a transitional tool industry belonging to the last phase of Neanderthals in northern Europe, it is an industry that is contemporary with the Châtelperronian of France and Spain. The characteristics of this industry are bifacially worked leaf-points and blade-points. The so called "transitional period" where Cro-Magnon man and Neanderthal coexisted, it was a period of time thought to be around 5,000 years before full hybridisation of the two groups. L-R-J tools are found over a very large parallel from Wales in the west to Poland in the east. Britain appears to have the largest concentrations of sites from this period, British sites so far outnumber those found on mainland Europe. Recent research places the British L-R-J to approximately c43,500 – 40,500 BP Length: 40 mm X 45 mm c 43,500 - 40,500 years BP From an old collection, found Kent, UK.
