Unfamiliar viewers are advised to Google this artist. The actual original carving apprentice to Sherab Palden Beru was Buddhist Monk Yeshe of The Tibetan Buddhist Center, at Eskdalemuir, Scotland. From the original carving by Monk Yeshe, all shrine enclosures at Scotland's Samye-Ling Tibetan Buddhist center were created. This auction is for the only known original and exact replication of the original carving that was not used to finish the now completed Samye-Ling Tibetan Buddhist Temple at Eskdalemuir, Scotland. Should there be further interest in the work of Buddhist Monk Yeshe, viewers are encouraged to contact this seller for an original sculpture by this extraordinary wood carver and Buddhist Monk Yeshe. The item is a finely carved 37" tall standing Crane in wood. Such exact representations are on display at the Samye-Ling Temple in both Scotland and Tibet. Typically such carvings receive an outer covering of multiple layers of 22 karat Gold leaf. This exact carving of the Temple's cranes was personally commissioned by the Seller without Gold leaf being applied. This carving is in original, as received perfect condition, and will have a reserve of one thousand dollars, plus shipping. Full provenance will be provided the buyer.Possession of these items was made 30 years ago by gift and legal transfer and purchase made directly from the artist, Buddhist Monk and wood carver known as Yeshe. Should interest be established, the Seller will request, under Ebay's existing policy, that a private Ebay, or public Ebay auction be arranged for interested parties to participate. As imaged in the accompanying photos, this original cast of resin material is in 5 perfectly fitted pieces. Only one side, the carved and rounded edges, the side viewed in photos provided, could be duplicated at the time of each casting, which occurred in the late 1970's. The back side is flat and is for attachment to a supporting element, such as a wall, or partition. As demonstrated in photos, when assembled, this measures 29 5/16" long at the sides and 23 1/2" across the top. It should be well noted and understood that this is not free standing when placed together, but requires, as in Buddhist Temples and Shrines, to be attached to a surface, a 'backdrop', a wall, or a partition This is an architectural 'surround' to a enshrined image, whether sculptured, or iconographical, such as a Buddhist Tanka painting. As with all such open poured in castings, only one side of this resin casted will demonstrate the original work's depth of finely detailed hand carving. The reverse side is simply a flat, textured, yellowish resin which is typically not viewed, and usually obscured by material or paint. This was the first casting. It matches all subsequent castings. All replications exist only in place at the Samye-Ling Kagu lineage Temple in Tibet, and at the Buddhist Temple and School of Tibetan Medicene at Eskdalemuir, Scotland. All 5 pieces when assembled weigh a total of 7 lbs 14.3 oz.
