Item:254375367205Two Taino Sherds with faces, 1.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 cms and 8 x 8 x 5 cms. I acquired these sherds 16 years ago. The previous owner purchased them in Puerto Plata, on the Atlantic Coast of The Dominican Republic, many years before. I will include a 1998 letter signed by Stacy Goodman, Senior Vice President, Pre-Columbian Art, Sotheby's, NY which states that the objects "appear to be Dominican pieces with values under $500". I will also include the previous owner's photograph of Puerto Plata at the time when the pieces were purchased there. A heavy shell temper is clearly visible, especially in the larger sherd. Both depict faces. Please look carefully at the photographs, since they accurately represent the pieces. I am a ceramics historian and can guarantee the authenticity of these sherds. If you are not completely satisfied, the sherds may be returned within two weeks of receipt for a refund (buyer pays all shipping costs).Material:Pottery
