Stickware Egg on Handle Darner, 6 ½ inches long, unmarked, probably European, probably early 1900’s, egg has signs of much use with pin holes and discoloration on the top and halfway down the sides, made of light colored wood, possibly maple and cherry, there are about 18 vertical bands around the egg, the different cuts in the bands create 4 egg shaped designs around the side of the larger egg, there is a checkerboard affect at the bottom and the top of the darning egg, could probably be sanded and re varnished to repair the damage to the wood, but then you would take away the evidence of prodigious labor carried out with much care and love.
