Steinway developed this Grand Piano especially for the largest and first international US World fair in the century, held in Philadelphia with a limited edition of 424 Steinway Grands ever build for that event. Only a view of these original "Centennials" have been survived. Some experts talk about 80 real "Centennials" or less are leftover. Steinway Serial number: 35806 Condition: The body is made by very rare rosewood (imported at this time in 1867 th. from Brasil) Top condition nearly as new with some markes of time...(Steinway New York term: "Style 4 Rosewood") 88 keys at all, 52 originally Ivory keys and 36 black ebony wood keys in top condition. Strings: Original and in a remarkable good playable substance.(Please note, these strings have made at this time by steal! ) The soundboard is in a remarkably good condition, never repaired or touched. The piano harp has some spots of age but does not need a restoration because it is in a very, very good condition. IMPORTANT !This grand is at this moment not playable. The complete wooden mechanical parts have to replaced by original Steinway parts if you want to play this treasure. This is quite some issue for our sale, but absolutely not a problem to fix it. Steinway can deliver and offer still for this instrument the parts to renew it.To be clear, the mechanical parts has to be replaced, action parts, hammers a.s.o.(Expect some extra invest of around 10000 to 15000 Euro) to do that.(We have the old mechanic inside and this is not working anymore. It is not the original Steinway Mechanic spare parts anyway...) Further, there is one of the 3 pedals not active, this has to be rebuilt too, if there is a need for.
