This style of Roman pottery was named after Herod, who ruled Judea at the time of Christ. These Jugs & the oil lamp embossed with the Symbol of menorah & star of David. The menorah is described in the Bible as the seven-branched ancient lampstand made of gold and used in the portable sanctuary set up by Moses in the wilderness and later in the Temple in Jerusalem. The menorah has been a symbol of Judaism since ancient times Estimated time line: Judea from 37BC to 70AD and beyond.
