This remarkable artifact is an ancient horse bit dating back to the 6th-4th century B.C. and was used by the Scythian people in the Northern Black Sea Region. The bit is made entirely of cast bronze and features two interlocking straight mouthpieces, each of which is notched with ribbed patterns for improved grip. The mouthpieces are concluded with integral key-shaped headings, which add to the bit's aesthetic beauty and make it easier to handle. The intricate design and skilled craftsmanship evident in this artifact make it a valuable piece of history and a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Scythian people.
NOTE: The Scythians were a nomadic Indo-European people of Eastern European origin, a predecessor of the Slavic people, occupying a geological band from Eastern Europe to the grasslands above China, sharing a common artistic, cultural, and economic base.
