BUILD YOUR OWN EXPOSURE UNITIf you're on a budget and have some basic carpentry skills, you should be able to build your own exposure unit without too much trouble. The exposure unit that you can build from our plans should be more than adequate for a small start-up shop, and should still be useful even after your business has grown. The exposure unit is built using basic butt joint construction with wood screws and wood glue so as to be fairly simple to construct while still offering excellent strength and durability. It can be built using a small circular saw (or jigsaw) and a drill, and you can easily modify the plans to make it larger if you so desire. The flourescent light fixtures that the unit utilizes can be purchased locally at a home improvement warehouse and we give you sources for the UV flourescent tubes in case you can't find them locally. The wiring is as simple as connecting wires with wire nuts, so you need not be an electrician to pull this off. It's fairly simple. This is actually a pretty fun little project, and if you’ve done any woodworking at all you should enjoy cutting it out and putting it together. Also included are detailed instructions for doing a step wedge test which is necessary for determining the correct exposure times for various mesh counts and emulsions. This will ensure that your screens are exposed properly, eliminating a lot of hassles. Excellent information. BUILD YOUR OWN SCREEN DRYING CABINETOnce coated with emulsion, screens have to be kept in complete darkness while they dry and stored in darkness until they're ready to be exposed. The best way to do this is with a SCREEN DRYING CABINET. It's easy to build your own with our detailed customizable plans if you have some very basic carpentry skills. The screen drying cabinet that you can build from our PLANS should be more than adequate for a hobbyist or small start-up shop, and should still be useful even after your business has grown. The screen drying cabinet is built using basic butt joint construction with wood screws and wood glue so as to be fairly simple to construct while still offering excellent strength and durability. It can be built using a small circular saw (or jigsaw) and a drill, and you can easily modify the plans to make it larger or smaller to fit any size screens. Like the exposure unit, this is a fun little project if you enjoy wood working. BUILD YOUR OWN SCREEN PRINTING PRESSIf you're on a budget and have some basic carpentry skills, you should be able to build a basic screen printing press without too much trouble. The press that you can build from our plans should be more than adequate for home or hobby use and is specifically designed to be extremely simple to build. It utilizes basic butt joint construction with wood screws and wood glue so as to be very simple to construct while still offering excellent strength and durability. Using 3/4" plywood and a pine 2X4, it can be built using a small circular saw (or jigsaw) and a drill. You can easily modify the plans to make the press larger if you so desire, but at 15 X 21 its small compact size is its coolest feature making it very easy to tuck away when not in use. There's lots of one color jobs out there, so this little press will pay for itself in short order. And it's actually a pretty fun project as well. If you’ve done any woodworking at all you should enjoy cutting it out and putting it together. Some things to keep in mind: 1. We're selling wood working PLANS - not wood working SKILL. While these plans are very basic, it will help if this isn't your very first wood working project. Get your feet wet building a bird house. 2. Most any set of wood working plans are designed for "can-do, get 'er done" type people with D.I.Y. skills. So if you continually find yourself saying things like "I can't do this" or "I can't do that", then you may want to think twice before tackling a wood working project. 3. The press, exposure unit, and screen cabinet shown in the photos are of actual samples built with our plans but are NOT INCLUDED. You're purchasing PLANS. 4. The screen cabinet is NOT an electric heated unit - just a light-proof box with shelves on the indide (as pictured).
