This lovely little woven silk tapestry or "Stevensgraph"dates from the 1890's and is matted, under glass, in a wooden frame. It depicts a French city street scene from the late 1700's or early 1800's. The tapestry itself measures approximately 7 inches wide and 11 inches tall, framed it measures 14 inches wide by 20 inches tall. It is Signed D.A. Perez (D. Alonzo Perez), in the lower right and "NF" (Neyret Freres), in the lower left. The silk produces an amazing silvery shimmer on some areas and depth to others with grays and blacks almost like a 3-D effect. The fine detail of the silk weaving is almost photographic. A lovely little piece of French culture!
