A terracotta lidded box (pyxis) with its original lid painted in red with a net pattern. The lid has a pierced finial. This is Greek influenced native Italic ware, Daunian or Canosan. South Italian (Daunian or Canosan), c.300 BC. Tiny chip to rim of lid and inoffensive minor hairline to rim of bowl. Otherwise intact. All original painting. Not overpainted. 11 cms in height.
