Seller: hawleybk (4,882) 100%, Location: Louisville, Kentucky, Ships to: US, Item: 233513533294 This is a rare nickel brass Turtle composing stick. The stick is 10-1/2 inches long and 11-1/2 picas deep. The stick itself is in very good condition. However, the original Turtle knee is - as usual - fractured and should not be clamped, as there is a very high risk of the knee becoming further damaged. The original knees were made of a pot metal, and breaking was very common. Thus, Turtle sticks are usually seen with alternative knees, such as Buckeye knees, because the original knees were broken and discarded. While this stick could be used with a knee from another stick, this original knee should not be used. This is a rare stick, since it has the original knee and is also made of nickel brass. Condition: Used, Condition: Metal of knee fractured as usual, and should not be clamped; this is not a functional stick. Otherwise the stick is in good condition.
