Beautiful sterling silver spoon handmade from silver ingot (hand wrought or cast) by Navajo Indian featuring on the figural handle in a shape of arrow. This one is early punched or cast Navajo design and hand hammered, cut, chiseled and filed condition is rudimentary as expected without breaks or repairs though in the bowl it has a spot that looks different that the rest of bowl. The entire spoon has a finish as if sand paper was used. Original Indian silversmiths of this time period, around 1900, used silver ingots, American or Mexican silver coins so it is not exactly .925 sterling, it is .900 pure silver. The Native American spoons are an important part of American Folk Art. Measures 3 3/4” inches (94 mm) and condition of the spoon is excellent, handmade though and as noted above.
