Item:372487178110Rare Chinese Ming Dynasty 15th-16th Century Bamboo Root Natural Form Brush Pot An outstanding and rare example of a natural form bamboo root brush pot. It is obvious that this brush pot has been revered and used over the centuries. The form is extraordinary flowing in many directions. The surface is incredibly banded with fantastical textures. This piece has wonderful fissuring from age. The surfaces are heavily worn from touching and handling and it takes a lot of touching to wear bamboo. The base and rim are worn baby smooth. The surfaces are shiny from touching and human oils. A superb example of the natural movement in design in the late Ming Dynasty. This is the real thing and a great example. Should be sending this off to Sotheby’s or Christie’s for auction. But then I do not really want to wait for the next auction, so get a great deal while you can. Condition is not an issue with this piece. The grazing, cracking and wear are what gives this piece great value and proof of its age and use. This is a spectacular brush pot and would fit well in the finest bamboo or brush pot collection. Dimensions: Height 6 7/8 inches (17.46 cm), Width 7 1/4 inches (18.41 cm), Depth 5 1/2 inches (13.97 cm). If you have any questions or require additional information please call me at 520-429-0177.
