For many who have large, sculptural and ornate belt buckles made by Doreen Ryan, most are made with one belt "bracket" fitting the 1.25 inch belt strip which fits through it and then turns under to hold. Then there is also one hook on the inside of the big buckle.
The buckle cannot work alone and there is a needed second piece, like this one photographed, which provides the second "bracket" for the second side of the belt to pass through, and fold under, as well as the necessary "loop" into which the hook from the back side of the big buckle catches.
This second piece turns what is really a useless Doreen Ryan 'one piece' buckle into a piece which can be sold as a working buckle for the interchangeable belt strips.
