For offer, a beautiful ORIGINAL ornament. Fresh from an attic estate in Upstate / Western NY. Never offered on the market until now. Vintage, Old, antique, Original - NOT a Reproduction - Guaranteed !! This piece has been nicely preserved in an album dated from the turn of the century (1903). The piece is lightly affixed to a paper album page (paper is of French origin). Hand stitching can be seen on back edges of the ornament. At the bottom in manuscript, is states that Miss A. Tranter brought this back from China. I researched Miss A. Tranton, and found she was involved in missionary work in China from 1895-1905. This is clearly documents. The ornament is lovely, with colorful details. Besides normal silk, it looks like there is wire as well. A grasshopper? In very good condition. Please see photos below for details. If you collect Asian art, 19th / 20th century history of East Asia, Christian Missions, sewing, embroidery, etc., this is one you will not see again soon.
