Seller: blubetterjay (1,467) 99.7%, Location: Framingham, Massachusetts, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 332037326845 This is a genuine Mayan artifact. Somewhat unusual in my experience as it is hollow. It has a very old looking piece of masking tape on the back, and written on it is, "D-53 Campeche Maya." I think that is the original lable put on it by the archeologist or cataloger. The D-53 probably means dig 53, my guess. Probably collected mid 20th Century. No repairs. The fact that it is hollow and has those two holes in the front and one in the back, perhaps suggests that this item had some function beyond display, but I don't know what. I think it is painted red.
