No missing pieces, cracks or repairs, this tumbaga is perfect. Diquis pendants are not simply a representation of nature, they (the pendants) are an outward sign of a complex world of symbolism with it's own system of beliefs. Very common are creatures of fantasy and strange composite beings, the preoccupation with super natural forms that Diquis pendants represent may have served as indicators of rank and family status, or perhaps as amulets. The pendants should not be considered merely as ornamental jewelry. Traditionally these type artifacts had between 3 - 7% gold content. All photos were taken by the seller with a Canon Digital Camera and a laboratory quality AmScope, Trinocular Stereo Microscope. All photos are of the subject artifact, there are never any substitutions.
