A superb polychrome Jalisco female figure of the Tala-Tonala style with one leg crossed and holding a small bowl. A fine and uniquely sculpted example of the Jalisco “Sheep-face” style also known as Tala-Tonala; a rare representation of their use of no slip as a third color in the overall color composition. The white and red pigments are all original and in a remarkable state of preservation. Height: 6.1 inches (15.5 cm) I acquired this piece in 2004 from Anthropos Gallery where she had been de-acquisition from an old Arizona collection formed in the 1960’s.
