Item:163878278209Never been listed, Pre Columbian, Costa Rican, Tumbaga, Gold and Copper Necklace Pendant, Punta Burica, Diquis Area, Choice Jaguar pendant, 8 grams, 1 3/8 of an inch in length, 5/8 inch in width, 7/8 of an inch in height. No missing pieces, cracks or repairs, this tumbaga is perfect and considered choice. Diquis pendants are not simply a representation of nature, they (the pendants) are an outward sign of a complex world of symbolism with it's own system of beliefs. Very common are creatures of fantasy and strange composite beings, the preoccupation with super natural forms that Diquis pendants represent may have served as indicators of rank and family status, or perhaps as amulets. The pendants should not be considered merely as ornamental jewelry. Traditionally these type artifacts had between 3 - 7% gold content. Photos were shot by the seller with a Canon digital camera and a laboratory quality AmScope, trinocular stereo microscope. All posted images are of the subject artifact, there are never any substitutions. Photos 1 thru 7 were shot with the Canon camera, the images reflect the tumbaga in various positions. Photos 8 thru 12 were shot with the AmScope, they reflect magnified and highly magnified images detailing the, deposits, and the gold and copper in the subject Jaguar. I use USPS/Canada Post, tracked, insured and expedited service, all purchases are packed with extreme care utilizing the best materials money can buy. Artifacts from my collection have been sold to art galleries in New York and Denver and to residents of Germany, France, Switzerland, Britain, Austria, Italy, Russia, and a few more. International shipping is about twice the cost when compared to North American shipping rates as tracked, with air service, and full insurance is not negotiable.
