A rare close-up in this 7" x 5" Print of the Atomic Bomb The Gadget, the result of the Manhattan Project’s 20 billion $ research effort, inside the top of the 100 foot test tower at the Alamagordo, New Mexico Test Site. It's July 11, 1945, and assembly took five days before the bomb was rigged and ready for the July 16th detonation. The Bomb was of Implosion, Fission, Pu239 type and was later used in Fat Man, the bomb dropped on Nagasaki. The same design (obtained via espionage) was used by the USSR in their first nuclear bomb Joe I. A rare look of the actual first Atomic Bomb ever made, with Norris Bradbury who later replaced J. Robert Oppenheimer as director of Los Alamos, standing (courageously) nearby.
