Item:173997421798This beautiful pottery piece is signed S Moncada and marked Chu 1993. I believe this is from the town of Chulucanas, Peru which is located near the foothills of the Piura Highlands in Northern Peru near the Ecuador border. This pottery piece has a beautiful ruffled edge and is approximately 2" high and 8 1/2" long. The artist has chosen a bird theme. It has a small chip to rim which can be seen in photos. Seller doesn't feel this detracts from piece. Please see photos for details and thank you for your interest! Chulucanas pottery uses Precolumbian art techniques that were developed more than 2000 years ago in the northern coast of Peru. The Chulucans use a technique that provides a variety of shades from light to dark. This coloring is obtained by using fresh or dry leaves from banana or mango trees as fuel in the second firing of the pottery.Condition:Used, Modified Item:No, Country/Region of Manufacture:Peru, Provenance:Ownership History Not Available, Handmade:Yes
