This auction is for a beautiful pair of vintage Chinese cloisonné statues of oxen from the late Republic period (1912 - 1949) .  Each ox figure is saddled up with a beautiful removable cloisonne saddle.  There is gold metal trim on the bodies of the oxen and beautiful colors of red, blue, yellow, pink and gold enamel.  The oxen are highly decorated with colorful Chinese motifs and flowers.   I purchased the pair of vintage cloisonne ox figures many years ago in San Francisco.  The oxen are unmarked and probably had a paper label.  The ox figures are in excellent vintage condition with no damage or repairs.  The  removeable saddles fit nicely on the body.  There is very minor pitting consistent with older cloisonné.  There could be tiny bits of enamel loss from normal wear. A wonderful vintage Chinese footed wood stand is included in the auction but is not original to the ox figurines.  The carved wooden stand is in excellent vintage condition with only surface scratches and tiny nicks on one spot on the top.  The stand is rectangular in shape with graceful carved legs and carving on each side.  The stand displays the cloisonne oxen statues beautifully.  The stand is very high quality and a great collectible by itself.
