Woodcut map by the Cartographer, Waldseemüller 1520. Original edition printed at Strasbourg. Sheet size: 67.5 x 47.5 cm. Image size: 51 x 38 cm. High quality facsimile printed on acid free heavy cream paper. Suitable for hand colouring. The map was produced for a facsimile edition of the 1520 edition of Shott's Ptolemy's Geographia which incorporated 20 "modern" maps with maps of the ancient world. The atlas facsimile was produced by the West of England Press which no longer exists. Centre fold line from where the map was prepared to be bound into the atlas edition. It was a hugely expensive project. There were a few spare maps printed in the early 1970's which were left over during production of the bound facsimile Atlas copies. This is one of them. Posted rolled in a protective tube.
  • Condition: As new apart from centre fold line. These maps were prepared for binding into an atlas and folded in half. They were never bound up and remained in store for over 50 years.
