Again the word to use here for the incredible delicate detailed filigree openwork is "MASTERFUL", & unlike most of the other Ottoman buckles on eBay -- there is lots of it!!! Rarely do you see so much open work silver filigree, & this amazing example includes applied silver "buttons" with gorgeous deep rich turquoise & cobalt enamel work. Both buckles also have large rounded deep rich real turquoise stones or cabochons, with exquisite natural patterns in each. There is an Islamic touchmark (Sterling or maker's mark) on the top of one buckle near the base of the turquoise stone. Both buckles tested for very high sterling content....925 or higher! The finely crafted reverse sides reveal expert original craftmanship with sterling silver reinforced areas beneath the filigree work at center & near tips for added structural strength.Overall condition is excellent & no major flaws worth mentioning that I can see. Please view photos --- what you see is what you get. The photos actually do not do the rich beauty of the turquoise stones justice! Appears more washed out in pics than in reality. No damage or flaws to enamel, turquoise stones, or silver filigree. -- a solid & sturdy piece!!Overall size of buckle when clasped together is 8" X 3.5" (inches)Total weight approx 129.48 grams. This is a large & substantial all sterling piece!I am not expert on dating antique Islamic pieces, but my educated opinion is that this is an earlier piece dating from the early to mid 19th Century....& possibly even as early as the 18th Century. This is definitely NOT a late 19th or early 20th Century piece....though the touchmark should give a clue to an expert.
