We are auctioning a wonderful estate collection of 13 original Yoshitoshi deluxe woodblock prints collected in Japan in the 1940's this week all from the 'Warriors Trembling with Courage' series-please take a look!

Size: Oban, Tate-e (14'' x 9.5'')
Date: 1880s

An original Japanese woodblock print by Yoshitoshi printed on deluxe heavy hosho presentation paper showing the heroic samurai Minamoto no Yoshiie (1039-1106) leaping over a balcony and slashing a go board under a full moon. The woodblock has wonderful gauffrage raised embossing and tsuyazumi gloss black details.

The woodblock is in very good condition with bright colors and details. There is some light toning to the top and top right edges and a dark spot to the lower edge. A crease to the left lower corner. A secondary paper is attached to the reverse which looks original to the printing process. Please check all pictures carefully for full condition.
