Item:333179501904An original, antique, copper-engraved strip road map by John Senex published in London by John Bowles in 1757. This map was published in Senex’s ‘The Roads through England delineated or Ogilby’s Survey, Revised, Improved and Reduced to a Size portable for the Pocket’, and as the title suggests this is a much smaller version of the road map John Ogilby published in 1675 in his ‘Britannia’. The sheet measures approximately 230mm x 180mm and is printed on both sides with the detail of the plates as follows: Plate 4 - London, Dorking, Arundel, Chichester. Numerous other settlements are identified and some topographical features are included. Plate 5 - London, Ware, Royston, Huntingdon.
