The map shows two bridges, a dam, and two ferry lines on the Ohio River. It labels steam railroads and locates horse-drawn streetcar routes, shown by dashed lines. One of the streetcar lines ran from the downtown area to the Louisville Jockey Club, since renamed Churchill Downs, today home to the Kentucky Derby. Among the other named places and features on the map are the Jeffersonville ferry, quarries, cemeteries, public buildings, the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, the Louisville Cement Company, Flat Lick Road, two orphan asylums, a baseball park on 28th Street, the Louisville & Portland Canal, Jeffersonville, the Newport News & Mississippi Valley Railroad, Goose Island, the New Albany & Portland Ferry, Crescent Hill Reservoir, Shelbyville Pike, the Louisville, St. Louis & Texas Railroad, Parkland, Cave Hill Cemetery, the House of Refuge, and Shippingport (misspelled on the map as Seippingport). The map was published by George Franklin Cram of Chicago in 1900. The image area measures 24.9 x 33 cm [9¾" x 13"].
