Old Unusual Merkelbach & Wick Salt Glaze German Boot Drinkware or Vase Lion Head

Offering this unusual salt glaze stoneware or pottery boot. It is made by Merkelbach and Wick in Germany.  It measures approx.  7" tall and is painted green, has intricate design , and lion head decoration. Unsure if it supposed to be some time of drinkware (since this company makes steins), or if it is a vase.

Measurements are 7" tall, 6 1/8" long (heel to toe), opening is 4" x 3". Has the M & W co mark indicating made between 1879-1921. There is also an impressed number that says either 370 or 870.  Has partial paper labels on the bottom. possibly from antique store. 

Condition is very good vintage or antique condition. There are no chips, cracks, gouges,  or signs of repair.  Crazing is evident on close inspection in a few spots. Inside bottom could use further cleaning and indicates dust and dirt from age and use.  Shiny finish. Does not have the original box or packaging (if there was any).  Pre-owned , particularly vintage/old items may show less obvious signs of wear from age or use.
