It shows railways, roads and canals, and gives a broad view of a wider area. It also includes an introduction and a more detailed map of a small town or village. This Inch to the Mile map covers the area from Mossley and Delph eastward to Penistone, and from Honley southward to Glossop. Author David Hey describes the area, much of it part of the Dark Peak, as "a true wilderness that is transformed in summer when the purple heather is in bloom, bilberries are ripe and the rocks glint and sparkle in the sun". The Great Central Railway, with its long Woodhead Tunnel, runs through the map. In the north west is Saddleworth Moor, while the map also includes Holmfirth, made famous through Last of the Summer Wine. On the reverse we include a detailed map of Honley, including Upper and Lower Thirstin and Fisher Green. Most of the main map is Yorkshire, but there are also small sections of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire. It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on this map. PLEASE VISIT OUR EBAY SHOP TO SEE OUR CURRENT LISTINGS. NB: We are unable to do searches of maps. We stock almost 3000 maps covering the UK and unfortunately do not have the "local" knowledge of the area concerned and trying to find specific streets etc is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack unless you know where to look. All our maps have descriptions of the area shown so we suggest a bit of research should be able to narrow it down.
