Item:223183447591Old Hancock House Beacon Street Boston 6" Minton Tile Works Ceramic Tile Anique. This is an antique 6 inch Minton tile showing Old Hancock house in Boston. This had been the lifelong home of John Hancock - President of the Continental Congress, first signer of the Declaration of Independence, multi-term Governor of Massachusetts, etc... Common sense would have had this become the Governor's residence since the State House had been built beside it but politics got in the way and it was torn down in 1863, an era before there was much thought of historic preservation.
