THE ARROWHEAD IN THE PHOTO IS THE ONE THAT THE AUCTION WINNER WILL RECEIVE. THE PHOTO IS OF THE ONE ARROWHEAD FROM THREE ANGLES FOUND ON AN ANCIENT SITE IN THE LOWER REGION OF UKRAINE THESE ARROWHEAD TYPES WERE ALSO USED AS TRADE MONEY BY THE SCYTHIANS. THE SIZE IS 34 x 10 MM AND 4.02 GRAMS. (Arrowhead is trilobate & socketed) The Scythians were a unique people. They were among the first to develop and perfect the art of horseback riding, which eventually changed the course of world history and the strategies of war. Mounted soldiers were the key to the Scythian’s success in war. Horseback riding was developed by them to the point where they did not even dismount their horses to eat and drink. The ancient Scythian’s had many bloody tribal customs, including cutting off the heads of slain enemies, and making leather bound drinking cups from the skulls. They lined these trophies with gold and displayed them to impress their guests. We do know from history that their bows could deliver an arrow 521.6 meters which is a little more then 567 yards according to the inscription found in a Greek grave which says "Anaxagoras son of Dimagoras" shot such a bow in the city of Olbia. When in war the Scythians are said to have carried from 30 to 150 arrows into battle. The arrow heads that were developed and designed by the Scythians were far more superior than arrows used by their Middle East neighbors. They were considered much better than the traditional leaf shaped arrow heads used in the Tigris - Euphrates Region . The Scythian arrow head is known as the "Scythian point". This arrow head had more of a bullet shape with three sides and each of those three sides had very small wings. The reason for this innovation was to penetrate armor better.
