Check out the fayssouxstarling website: Whether you know it or not, y ou’ve heard Fayssoux  many times over the years. Aside from her one-off stint playing egg whisk percussion on a Lowell George track, s he sang harmonies all over Emmylou Harris’ legendary early recordings:  Luxury Liner , Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town , Elite Hotel , and Pieces of the Sky.  For decades, her singing was a secret known only to esteemed musicians and astute and/or compulsive liner note readers.

Fayssoux‘s singing has drawn the admiration of collaborators like Crowell, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and Buddy Miller.

"Charm, elegance, whippoorwills, magnolia dewdrops: these are the things that come to mind when I hear Fayssoux sing” - Rodney Crowell (who first sang with Emmylou Harris in Fayssoux's living room.)

"I've always loved Fayssoux's voice. She's one of my favorite singers ”  - Emmylou Harris  ( You'll find Emmylou's compliments to the Starlings at each of her fan web pages.)

This record was released in 1974, on Washington, DC ’s enigmatic Sweet Breeze Recording Company label,  produced by Tom Guernsey and Bob Yesbek . Besides airplay on alternative radio WHFS, all other airplay for A-side was strictly on country-radio. The B-side is another country tune, "After the Fall ” .

Both songs were written by Tom Guernsey, who himself has an interesting history as leader of the Hangmen (aka the Reekers), the Washington, DC '60s garage band that recorded the regional mega hit "What A Girl Can't Do." Guernsey ’s early Hangmen or Reekers' 45s are top tier collectors items.  As his productions moved from straight ahead rock towards country, they were characterized by sumptuous backup vocals, robust arrangements and very tasty instrumentation, not to mention some of DC's preeminent musical talent.
