Offered is a stunning California Native American Basket, identified by a museum appraiser as Hupa made. The tag that came with it said it was appraised and identified by Ramona Bradley from the Sherman Institutional Museum, which is in Riverside California. She was one of the founders of the museum in 1970 and the curator at the time. I don't have any other records as far as appraised value, etc. or age. It is a nice basket with a solid, though slightly misshapen bowl. It does have some wear to rim where the outer wrapping has come loose. Please see pictures. It measures 5 1/2" across at widest point and 3" tall. Sorry: No international shipping on this one due to fragile and valuable nature. Impo rtant Note: We will gladly combine orders of auctions run each week. Please do not pay for one week's items and then ask us to hold items until the next week's auction ends because eBay lowers our seller rating if we don’t mail items within a day. Many of our Quill Boxes come from Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college, it's time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with others.

It's broken off almost so strategically that it looks like it was designed that way, but I believe it originally had the wrapping all the way around rim. Base of basket is strong. No breaks or damage.
