Hat Colors, Sizing and Design Images

Product Photos:  Each design is sewn and individually photographed in at least one color for each design.  The first color of hat with the design is the one I thought looked the best for this design.  The other hat colors are an option that you can have *this* design sewn on.  The design will look the same, using the same thread colors but with whatever color of hat you order.

No Illustrations:
Some eBay sellers use "virtual" listing photos.  A virtual photo is an illustration.  It's a graphic designer using graphics to show what the hat should look like.  I don't sell virtual hats, so I only use pictures of real hats with real embroidery.  As customers order the design on different colors I take a picture of it and update the product listing.  If you have questions or requests feel free to message me.

Hat Sizing:  The hats I sell are sold as "one size fits most."  The manufacturer rates them at 58cm, which is approximately 22.8 inches in circumference.  This is equivalent to a 7.5 Fitted Hat.  In labeled hat sizes this is an XL for most people.  The most common men's size is 7-⅜ and the average hat size for ladies is 7-¼.  Most of my hats are hook and loop (like Velcro®) or buckle closure and there is some wiggle room depending how you wear the hat.  Remember, you can return any hat for any reason including it doesn't fit, you've changed your mind, you no longer like it, your child ordered with your iPhone, blah blah.  Just use the eBay returns process please.

Hat Styles: I try to keep the marketing nonsense to a minimum and tell it like it is.  I sell unstructured, low-profile, baseball or "dad" style hats.  There are a couple of exceptions where I have a structured hat and I will note them in the product description when they apply to a color or hat style.

Background on Hat Terms:  For the detail obsessed folks out there....

Profile: Hats are sold as low, mid, or high profile and it refers to the size of the front part of the hat.  The difference is 1/4" between each category in height.  High-Profile is usually a structured hat as well.

Structured vs Unstructured refers to how the front of the hat is made.  Structured hats are reinforced with buckram similar to a cowboy hat.  They are stiff.  Stiffer than cardboard but not quite acrylic plastic.  They are also hard on the machines and I don't like they way they look or fit personally.  The machines have to be slowed down to avoid damage when sewing on structured hats.

Closure Types: I mostly sell hook and loop closures unless otherwise noted in the product description.  These are infinitely adjustable.  Hook and Loop is the generic term.  Velcro® is a trademark name for a hook and loop fastener.

Other terms: Distressed - a marketing name for a hat that is torn up or physically damaged, usually with a bench grinder.  Stonewashed / Pigment Dyed - a term for fabric that has been faded during dying to soften the color, similar to lighter denim.  FlexFit® is a trademark owned by Yupoong that replaces the closure with an elastic band in the hat.  It's perfect for letting your hat blow out the window or off your head at the wrong moment.  I mostly sell Otto hats and they call it OttoFlex.  I don't currently carry elastic band hats because I think the Hook and Loop is a better option that is less prone to coming off your head.

Shipping and Additional Information About Shipments

Shipping cost:
Please see the listing details for shipping options.

Default Shipping Method:
By default your item will ship USPS Ground Advantage (formerly First Class Parcel) with tracking and insurance in a cardboard box.  One to Four hats go in a 8x6x4 inch box.  Larger quantities go in an appropriate box.  If the weight is enough we will automatically upgrade you to Priority Mail.  Most hats are light enough to ship Ground Advantage and it gets there in about the same time.

Please note that our mail is picked up at the end of the business day and sometimes the tracking does not show up in the USPS system until the next business day.  Thank you for your understanding and patience. A scan of "received" means the package was picked up by the mail carrier.  "Acceptance" is when the package reaches the sort plant in North Houston.

Delivery and Package Theft: If you have a mail slot or a mailbox that a mouse would find cozy please ask your post office to "hold your package" for pickup.  The USPS is happy to do this and it will help you avoid porch pirates.  Sometimes your carrier may hold your package at the post office if they don't feel it's safe to leave it.  Reasons it might not be safe include you have 100 pound dogs in the yard that day, you live on a busy street, etc.

Packages Traveling Incognito, Mis-Sorts and other bad luck: The USPS is extremely reliable, but sometimes things happen that I have no control over.  Your patience is very much appreciated when your delivery is not as fast as you and I expect it to be.  Please let me know and I will either research it with the USPS (open a case) or conclude that it is lost and issue you a refund and file a claim with the USPS.  It typically takes 3 to 4 days for the USPS to work on a case.  Sometimes packages do not get scanned out of Houston and they will travel to the destination with no scans.  I call this traveling "incognito."   Due to expanding volume the USPS opened another sort facility in Houston in Jan 2024 and they have had some significant challenges with getting things running smoothly. A package is sometimes sorted incorrectly and goes to the wrong part of the country before being re-routed to the correct destination.  Packages go into larger containers and don't get seen again until they get to the destination for the container.  Sometimes they fly the packages, but often they use trucking to move packages.  Actual package loss is fairly uncommon.  I ship about 3,000 packages a year and have 3 to 5 come up as lost a year.  I have another 10 or 12 that have some sort of scan / routing issue a year.  All in all it's pretty rare and UPS and Fedex are similar, but do spectacularly bad things do packages when they make a mistake.

When Tracking isn't Tracking: Sometimes the USPS will scan something as delivered before it's actually delivered.  If the tracking says it was delivered at 8am but you get your mail at 3pm most days, this is probably the case.  Please contact your local post office before you contact me.  If they say it was really delivered send me an email and I'll put a trace request (support ticket) in and force someone to go hunt for the box.  See also package bad luck above. It turns up 9 times out of 10.  It often turns out to be "held at post office per customer request" without the customer requesting it.

Delivery time:

Varies by location and service chosen, but typically in under 7 to 10 days.
Most items ship via USPS Ground Advantage which can be as fast as 3 days, is typically 4 to 6, and sometimes takes 7 to 10 days.
