Seller: howardturner (746) 100%, Location: Ridgefield, Connecticut, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 253905656074 Large Rare Neolithic Terracotta Pottery Vessel found in the Saharian Desert ( early Egyptian) at a Neolithic Site Near Chinguetti (Adrar Area) in Mauritania. It comes from a culture known as the Tichitt. The vessel is beige in color. It is 61/2" Tall and 61/2" wide. It comes from a time about 6000 years BP. It is a heavy piece as it weighs about 2.2 pounds which is correct as clay pottery was in its infancy. It has a nice patina and has a form of incising around the entire bowl. There is some repair to the vessel but it is complete and wear approporiate for its age. Purchased from Galerie-Lithique in France in 2006.
