This is a leaf of incunabula from the Flos theologiae sive Summa de abstinentia [Dictionarius pauperum] by Nicolaus de Byard (d. 1300) a mysterious & noted theologian who taught in Paris & Oxford. There is also no certain evidence whether he was a Franciscan or a Dominican. Also, the book itself is noted in both Hain & Goff as being combined with the Quaestiones Evangeliorum by Johannes de Turrecremata even though only a few of the publicly held copies contain both. Johannes Amerbach printed it on September 28, 1481 in the Swiss City of Basel. The small folio leaf measures 285 x 200 mm. in totality and contains 47-lines of gothic type double column in Latin with red versal letters beginning each chapter. The verso contains the same type, style & layout. (Hain-C. 15714; GW M48236; Goff T-553; BMC III, 747) This leaf contains minor staining.
