• 1896: Follows Camp was established by Ralph Follows, an Englishman. It became the most popular hostelry in San Gabriel Canyon. He died in an automobile accident near Redlands in 1926.
• 1945: Sedley Peck and his wife Dolores “Flo Flo” Peck restored the camp as a mountain resort, adding a restaurant and store.
• 1975: Former Beverly Hills police officer and Newport Beach car salesman Joe Davison bought the camp from Flo Flo Peck and added the Ferguson property (once a religious retreat known as “Beulah Land”), expanding the park to include cabins and mobile homes for permanent residents.
• Nov. 14, 2002: Davison, aka “Papa Joe,” the so-called “mayor of Follows Camp” dies, leaves the camp to his girlfriend, Pat Jones, who allows her daughter to run it.
• 2005: Heavy rains cause East Fork to overflow its banks, washed out the bridges and destroyed many buildings. Residents were evacuated by helicopter. Camp was sold to Flochal.
• 2005-2006: Follows Camp LLC, a company controlled by Rowland Heights investor Garry Tsaur, buys the property.
• Oct. 14, 2011: City of Industry buys Follows Camp (100 acres) for $5.25 million
• May 2012: Industry work crews demolish old buildings, recontour the East Fork River.
• June 19, 2012: Department of Fish and Game warden Larry Stephens reports possible violations of the Clean Water Act to City of Industry
• Nov. 18, 2013: State Water Resources Control Board, working with the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board brings formal enforcement action against City of Industry for engaging in unauthorized dredge and fill activities in the East Fork of the San Gabriel River. The city was fined $5.8 million.
• October 2015: Industry City Council hires Cordoba Corp. to help the city decide what to do with the property and other land holdings. Cordoba, a civil engineering firm, will earn $45,000 a month. Pays CASC Engineering and Consulting $34,660, and Sage Environmental Group $23,000 for work at Follows Camp.
