This hot end is fashioned after some of the leading hot ends in the field but with many improved modifications. Most hot ends have barrels made from PTFE or PEEK material for heat resistance and moderate strength. I decided to go the extra mile and make the barrel out of TORLON. TORLON: Also known as PAI or polyamide-imide, has a continuous operational temperature to 260°C. TORLON maintains its tensile strength, shape, and rigidity better than PEEK, even at the high end of its temperature range. It also handles a wider temperature range then ULTEM (The materials used in most medical applications) and meets UL 94V0 for flammability. Although TORLON is 2 to 3 times more costly then the other materials, my hot ends have a proven track record of 20 plus hours of continuous operation printing ABS at a temperature of 230° with no clogging or deflection. This is crucial when you are printing large parts that take hours to print. The heating head and the nozzle are of the highest quality brass and are uniquely manufactured in two pieces. This gives you the ability to change nozzle sizes without having to undo all the wiring of the resistor and thermister. Within just a few moments you are heating up the new nozzle and ready to print with a different diameter. ABS or PLA can be extruded with my hot end. If your using PLA, then your printer must have a small fan attached to it to cool the hot end near the extruder. This is common with all hot ends for PLA tends to crystalize if it is kept at the melting temperature too long. The fan helps to let the PLA gradually get hot as it is extruded down the barrel of the hot end.
