FOR SALE FINE QUALITY  WONDERFUL    Scandinavian / American Colonial Era coin / sterling silver SNUFF BOX.  Fully marked with makers mark   "AI".   DATE mark  "76" .  Also inscribed  initials & date at the base  MJ - 1777  - see image.   Made in Kopenhagen  circa 1776  by Ambrosias Jorgensen . A pproved as silversmith  14 / 12 / 1761, died   in  1793 .   Design is typical for 18th century very popular Louis XV style   with bird finial. 

Weight-  39 grams. Size: 2 3/4" high,  1 1/2" x 1". 

Came from NEW ORLEANS  estate sale In early 1990's.

 

The snuff box   features a very  beautiful form.  Classy & timless design.

Box is in very good condition considering age.  No  damage.
