Rare surviving example of an iron oil lamp holder with the back in the form of a cross. A few pinholes of loss at the bottom as visible in the photos and some at the nozzle. Still, a quite sturdy and complete example of a an unusual type. The would have been used to hold a small terracotta oil lamp and to carry it about. Provenance: Comes with an old (circa 1930s) original tag from Gimbel Brothers Department Store, located at Broadway and 23rd Street in New York City.
